Powdery mildew appears as pale powdery patches on cucumber leaves and can spread when foliage is crowded. Confirming the pattern before treatment helps distinguish it from dust, residue, or other leaf damage.
Inspect both surfaces
Look across older and newer leaves in angled light. Powdery patches often expand across the surface while the veins remain visible. Check nearby cucurbits because the same condition can move between susceptible plants.
Improve conditions
Remove severely affected leaves with clean pruners and discard them. Thin crowded growth, water the soil rather than the foliage, and keep plants supported so air moves through the canopy.
Choose treatment carefully
Use only a product labeled for edible crops and follow its instructions, including harvest intervals. Test any spray on a small area first and avoid treating heat-stressed plants.
Frequent inspection and good airflow are more reliable than waiting until the entire vine is coated.
